Black Americans, or “Soulaans,” are of American origin only emphasizes the idea that descendants of U.S. chattel slavery have a unique ethnic identity that is rooted specifically in the United States, rather than in Africa or any other external origin. This perspective reflects the idea of ethnogenesis, where a distinct cultural and ethnic group has developed within the boundaries of the U.S. due to shared history, experiences, and cultural evolution.
